Half Bath Remodel

Our tiny 36″ x 96″ downstairs half-bath renewal is almost complete. Gone are the 1970’s pink toilet and fixtures, green and pink wall paper, vinyl tile flooring, platform sink, lights and old mismatched shelving. We did a lot of online research for inspiration and ideas on style and function.

A friend laid the cream diagonal ceramic floor tile and the custom oak wood trim. Once set, he installed a Kohler “Cimarron” water saving toilet.ย  My husband installed 48″ height bead board with a 2″ wide rail head to three of the walls.

On the back wall, behind the toilet he installed bead board and pine shelves to the ceiling. I used white semi gloss Behr paint on the wood and Behr Silver Sage UL210-8 on the walls.

We found a small 1930’s server for the sink commode. I still marvel that my talented husband dismantled, sawed off one inch from each side and reconstructed the 38″ wide server to make it fit the allotted space.

My nephew installed the white Carrera marble tile top. We added a Kohler “Memoirs” sink and a chrome single hole Pfister faucet.ย  Wanting to reuse and update the in-wall medicine cabinet, we added a dime store mirror to a craft store stock wood frame and screwed it to the front door panel. My big splurge was on the chrome Reformation Hardware “Asbury” tissue holder and towel ring and two “Modern” sconce light fixtures.

A woven basket for extra tissue rolls, small area rug and hand towels were purchased from T J Maxx HomeGoods. The antique lithography is of our of local naval shipyard.

Still needs two molding strips above the sink, then we’ll be done!
