This wine bottle gift bag is an easy, last minute project.
I started by cutting off one arm of a thrift store sweater.
With a wine bottle placed along the sleeve (with the cuff turned down), measure 1″ (2.5 cm) for seam allowance along the bottom and cut straight across.
Next, turn sleeve inside-out so that right sides are together. Place the bottle on the sleeve, mark and then sew a straight line along the seam side of the sleeve. Cut away excess.
Then, sew a straight line across the bottom of the sleeve.
Pulling from the middle of the seam, pin open the sides, making a “cross” and sew a straight line about 3″ (7.5 cm). Turn sleeve right-side out.
Add a bit of ribbon, greenery and tag. Viola! A quick and functional repurposing project.
